PURPOSE:To read correctly an image when it is shifted from recording to reading by continuing to light up the LED array of the reading even during the recording. CONSTITUTION:When a copying action is started, an LED array is made to light up and reading is started. The reading is executed until the image data are fully plugged at a certain set RAM area. Next, the read information is wholly recorded. At such a time, the LED array is made to light up as it is and for the reading, the empty reading is continued. When the LED is turned from OFF to ON, the light quantity of the LED is not constant when the time does not pass, and therefore, a slice level is changed and an S/N is greatly deteriorated. For such a reason, it comes to be harder to execute the correct reading. Therefore, even when shifting is executed from recording to reading by executing the empty reading while the LED array is made to light up as it is even at the time of recording, a correst reading image can be obtained by the supply of the stable light quantity.
