PURPOSE:To attain stable focus detection and to shorten time up to a focused state by inhibiting control based upon disabled focus detection at the time of temporary disabled focus detection due to the removal or the like of an object from a focus detecting area. CONSTITUTION:If disabled focus detection is decided by a deciding means when no movement of the object is detected by a moving body detecting means, prescribed control based upon the disabled focus detection is executed by a control means, but if the disabled focus detection is decided when the object is moving, the photographing lens is driven on the basis of a defocused value operated before the decision of the disabled focus detection without immediately executing the prescribed control based upon the disabled focus detection because it is considered that the disabled focus detection may be generated due to the removal of the subject from the focus detecting area. When the number of times of disabled focus detection by the deciding means continues the prescribed number of times, practical disablement of focus detection of the object is considered and the prescribed control based upon the disabled focus detection is executed. |
