PURPOSE:To record an erect image onto a back-printing paper by inverting the reading direction of a reader without the printer side change. CONSTITUTION:The reflecting light beams, in which a reader irradiates an original while an exposing lamp 3 lights up, are image-formed to a CCD line sensor 6 by a lens 5. A reading head 2 executes the main scanning in the right direction from an A point and sends an above-mentioned image signal to a printer from the moment when a registering sensor 31 for back-printing is shaded by a main scanning shading plate. When the reader detects the signal from the sensor 31, a reading head 6 at the A point is shifted to the left until a home position sensor 30 for back-printing is shaded by a main scanning shading plate 16. When the copying process of one main scanning is completed, the exposing lamp 3 is put out, and the reader executes the main scanning in the left direction while a sub-scanning is executed in the lower direction up to the position where the next main scanning is executed.
