PURPOSE:To easily and economically produce Al base alloy plate material by forming molten Al base alloy containing the specific quantity of Li to the specific thickness by the direct casting-rolling method. CONSTITUTION:Al base alloy composing of 0.5-5.0wt% Li and as the need containing >=1 kind among <about 7.0% C, <about 6.0% Mg, <about 20.0% Si, <about 2.0% Mn, <about 0.5% Cr, <about 0.5% Zr, <about 0.5% V, <about 0.3% Ti, <about 0.50% Be, and containing as unavoidable impurities, <about 0.50% Fe, <about 50ppm for each of Na, K, S, etc., and remaining Al is melted. This molten metal 1 is continuously supplied into a casting butt 2, and supplied to between one pair of the upper and the lower cooling rolls 4a, 4B from the end part of a nozzle 3 extended horizontally to produce the plate material strip 5 having <=15mm thickness. In this way, the plate material having large size is easily, safely and economically produced.
