Process for the preparation of chloro(phenyl)phospines

Chloro(diphenyl)phosphine, (C6H5)2PCl, is prepared by reaction of diphenylphosphinic acid chloride with triphenylphosphine at temperatures between about 300 DEG and about 600 DEG C. The initial P-O compound undergoes deoxygenation during the reaction. The product of the process is useful as an intermediate in various specialized areas such as the plant-protection and polymer sectors.
