The rolling mill has least two superimposed rolls 9, 10 with hydrostatic bearing elements 11-14 acting directly on the outer jackets of the roll barrels. A wedge adjustment 31 with wedge surfaces mutually displaceable parallel to the roll axes is provided underneath the two hydrostatic bearing elements 13, 14, 15 of the lowermost roll 10, which wedge adjustment is subject to the action of an hydraulic actuating cylinder 32 with its axis arranged parallel to the roll axes. The cylinder is actuable to control the elastic bending line(s) of the lower rolls 2, 8, 10 via computer control in response to signals from a material surface evenness or thickness measuring device. <IMAGE> |
