PURPOSE:To obtain a paper feed apparatus capable of performing manual line feed without generating the shift of a printing line even if the supply of a current to a motor is cut off, by setting the number of the stepping pulses of a stepping motor driving the detent teeth of a detent mechanism means at every one tooth to integer times the number of stepping phases. CONSTITUTION:One detect tooth corresponds to the 8-pulse driving quantity of a stepping motor 16. The number of driving stepping pulses of the stepping motor 16 is set to 48 in order to feed one printing line of printing paper 11, to 72 in order to feed 1 1/2 lines, to 96 in order to feed 2 lines and to 24 in order to feed a 1/2 line. The detect position of the printing line feed of the printing paper 11 is allowed to coincide with the holding position of the stepping motor 16 at the time of excitation and the rotation quantity of a paper feed gear 14 corresponding to one detent tooth, that is, the number of the stepping pulses of the stepping motor 16 is set to integer-times the number of the phases of the stepping motor 16 and, therefore, even if the supply of a current to the stepping motor 16 is cut off and a user performs manual line feed operation arbitrarily, no line shift is generated. |
