PROCESS FOR PRODUCING BIOSPECIFIC POLYMER DEVICES

Biocompatible polymers are prepd. by immobilizing reactive biol. agents on a polymer support via. chem. bonding. Thus, solns. of monomer are prepd. by combining 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, ethylene glycol, NaHSO3 and ammonium persulfate. After polymn., polymer membrane disks are cut out from the polymer sheet. The disks are activated in 10% (NBr soln. Antibodies are obtd. by incubating poly (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) membrane disks which are treated with insulin-absorbed anti-insulin antibody. These insulin-treated membrane disks absorbed 111 pg antiinsulin antibody from soln. or 690 pg/cm2 surface area in a radioimmuno assay test.
