PURPOSE:To read a picture written on all picture of a hand-writing sheet by adopting the constitution through the combination of two light sources and a reflecting mirror changing the optical path of a reflected light from the hand- writing sheet at one winding supply shaft side. CONSTITUTION:A read means comprising a lens 5 and an image sensor 6 fitted to a support member 13 is directed in advance in the direction of a reflecting mirror 14 and in lighting the hand-writing sheet 1 by a fluorescent light 4a attended with the winding operation of a winding supply shaft 2a, its reflected light is collected by the lens 5 via the reflecting mirror 14 and projected into the image sensor 6 sequentially. Thus, the picture in its longitudinal direction is converted into an electric signal as one-line information and the picture in lateral direction is converted sequentially as an electric signal synchronously with a carrying speed of the hand-writing sheet 1, they are outputted from the image sensor 6 to a storage circuit section 20 as picture information and one pattern's information is stored in the storage circuit section 20.
