PURPOSE:To provide spectral sensitivity over the visible region and the near infrared region to a sensitive body and to increase the sensitivity of the sensitive body by forming a photosensitive layer contg. a specified squarylium pigment. CONSTITUTION:A squarylium pigment represented by the formula is used in the electrostatic charge generating layer of a sensitive body. In the formula, each of R1 and R2 is H, hydroxyl, methyl, carboxyl, halogen or trifluoromethyl and each of Ar1 and Ar2 is phenyl or substituted phenyl having 1-6C straight chain alkyl, hydroxyl, 1-4C alkoxy, halogen, nitro, cyano, carboxyl or the like but Ar1 and Ar2 are not identical groups. Thus, a sensitive body having spectral sensitivity over the visible region and the near infrared region and high sensitivity is obtd. and the electrical characteristics of the sensitive body such as the electrostatic chargeability and dark decay are improved. |
