PURPOSE:To allow a head core to follow up the deformation of a recording medium even if the recording medium deforms, and to improve the contactness with the recording medium and reduce the spacing loss by supporting the head core elastically in the direction of projection from a slider constituting a head. CONSTITUTION:The whole of the magnetic head 2 is composed of one block (slider 13) and the magnetic core 14 united with the slider 13 while having a recording/reproduction gap and an erasure gap and the core 12 are both supported elastically in the slider 13 by a spring 15. Then, the tip of the core 14 penetrates the slider 13 and projects on the recording medium slide contact surface side of the magnetic head 2 at any time. When a magnetic disk 11 is recorded or reproduced while sandwiched from above and below, the core 14 projects or sinks according to the deformation of the magnetic disk 11 at any time with the force of the spring 15 even if the magnetic disk 11 deforms to make the magnetic head 2 almost leaves the contact surface of the slider, so that the magnetic head contacts the magnetic disk 11.
