PURPOSE:To decrease the memory capacity needed for storage of the learning data by using a learning means which stores the characteristics of the conversion result as the learning result. CONSTITUTION:A function is provided to store the characteristics of the conversion result as the learning result. For instance, a learning part 135 performs the latest application learning of the homonyms of the candidate word (highest likelihood candidate word) that is decided as the most accurate word. Then the part 135 stores the Japanese reading of the candidate word decided when a fixing request is received from an editing part 87 and the candidate number of said candidate word set in a candidate store area 134 into a learning data store area 136 in the form of the learning information (learning result). A conversion result output part 139 stores the candidate word of the conversion result in an output buffer 140 in accordance with the word information received from a close writing conversion part 138. Then the part 87 reads the candidate words of the conversion result out of the buffer 140.
