PURPOSE:To shorten time for reading OMR paper by reading only necessary number of steps in a mark writing section arranged in plural steps. CONSTITUTION:Before transmitting a document, an operator gives data of, for instance, destination, density of the original at the time of transmission, number of sheets of the document etc. to a main control section 3. For this purpose, relevant parts of OMR paper are painted out in black. When reading the OMR paper, it is significant to read marked parts, but it is futile to read parts where no mark is written. Accordingly, the part to be read is marked in the marking section 51 of the first step. That is, only marked parts of number of steps indicated by the first step marking section are read. Thereby, necessary information can be read in necessary minimum time.
