PURPOSE:To easily remove foreign matter sticking on the surface of the front end of a stop lens which is inserted into an optical recording and reproducing device and provided to the front end of an optical head by including a rotary brush which is supported rotatably in contact with the stop lens. CONSTITUTION:When an optical head cleaning device is inserted into the optical recording and reproducing device from the opening 26 of its front panel 25, a door 30 is rotated and then the device is inserted under the guidance of a cartridge holder 27 until the case part 3 is restrained by the front panel 25. The diameter D of a rotary brush is larger than the height H of a case insertion part, so the rotary brush 4 contacts the front end of the stop lens 46 at the front end of the optical head. Further, the optical head 44 is as long as the axial length of the rotary brush 4 wherever it is in the conveyance direction, so the stop lens 4 and rotary brush 4 contact each other. A control circuit 15 operates with a switch 14 pressed to drive and rotate a motor 7 for a certain time and then the rotary brush 4 is rotated to remove automatically foreign matter sticking on the front end surface of the stop lens 46 contacting it. |
