<p>PURPOSE:To keep the optimum contact of a tape and head and to reduce the variation in the reproducing output by controlling the tension giving to a recording medium according to the reproducing output transmitted from the recording medium and the time information concerning the service life of the head. CONSTITUTION:The reproducing output of a recording medium 1 is detected by the 1st detecting means 2-4 and the time information concerning the service life of the reproducing head 2 abutting to the recording medium 1 is detected by the 2nd detecting means 6. And the tension giving to the recording medium 1 is controlled according to the output of the 1st and 2nd detecting means 2-4, 6 by a control means (microcomputer) 5. In this way the optimum contact of the tape 1 and head 2 can be kept and the variation in the reproducing output can be reduced. Owing to the minimum tension corresponding to the projection amount of the head 2 being obtd. the breakdown of the tape of the case of the big projection amount caused in the past and sliding noises are reduced and the service life of the head 2 can be extended as well with the reduction of the wear amount of the head 2 due to the small tension.</p> |
