The subject of the invention is an apparatus for the wet cleaning of coverings, particularly carpets. Apparatus characterised in that it consists chiefly of a drum 1 to which the carpet T to be cleaned is fixed, this drum being fixed on a shaft 2 which is turned by a variable-speed motor 3, and facing and in the immediate vicinity of a cylindrical brush 4 for cleaning the carpet T, this brush likewise being fixed on a shaft 5 turned by a reversible motor (invertor motor) 6, and surmounted by one or more perforated spraying rails 7 for treating and rinsing the carpet T, the cleaning apparatus being furthermore provided with a hood 8 connected to a vacuum unit 9 for dust removal and a perforated carpet T drying rail 10, all these means being sequentially controlled, either manually or by a programmable robot, or by a microcomputer, by which means the carpet is cleaned. <IMAGE>
