The invention relates to a device for spreading mortar with more evenness and less handling. It consists of a box 1 having an orifice 2 through which the mortar is introduced by means of two projecting tongues 3 which are used as a guide on the brick, the user then pulls the box 1 by means of a handle 4 and the mortar is spread in an even fashion over the row of bricks, the next step then being simply to lay the bricks on this row. Two projections 5 in the shape of a circular arc are positioned at the end of the two guides 3 and prevent the mortar from jutting out. <IMAGE>
