PURPOSE:To decrease output capacitor charging current passing through a base drive winding immediately after the input making and to attain stable starting, by a method wherein + side of DC input and an output capacitor are connected by a diode to be in parallel to a series circuit of the base drive winding, an output winding and an output diode. CONSTITUTION:Circuit composed of a switching transistor Q1, a transformer T1 having a base drive winding n1, an output winding n2 and an exciting winding n3, an output capacitor C1, a base resistor R1, an acceleriting capacitor C2, an output diode D1, a constant-voltage diode DZ1, and a starting resistor RS constitutes a ringing choke converter. A diode D2 connects between the input terminal 1 and the output capacitor C1 of this circuit. Current flowing in the output capacitor C1 before starting of oscillation of Q1 immediately after the input making passes through the diode D2 and current flowing through the base drive winding n1 and the output winding n2 decreases, and thereby the starting is stabilized.
