PURPOSE:To improve recording and reproduction and to form neither a fringe nor a dummy gap by forming a magnetic gap slantingly to a track width direction by using a ferromagnetic metallic material or alloy material. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic gap part (g) is the prolongation part of the central rail 12 of a slider part 10 and provided at a part 11 where the main body part of a magnetic core is constituted. This films or thin bodies 16 and 17 made of ferromagnetic metallic materials or alloy materials are provided nearby the gap (g) slantingly to the prolongation direction of the track width of the gap (g), which is formed of the opposite parts of the end parts of thin belts 16 and 17. A member 18 made of a nonmagnetic material having wear resistance is provided at the peripheries of the thin film or thin belts 16 and 17. Thus, the gap (g) is formed of the thin film or thin belts 16 and 17, so even when a magnetic material with high coercive force is used for a magnetic recording medium, recording and reproduction are performed excellently and no fringe is formed.
