摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a catalytic material which is not deteriorated even when it is used for a long period of time at high temperatures by causing a catalyst such as platinum, palladium, rhodium or the like to be selectively carried on titanium oxide. CONSTITUTION:In a high temperature catalytic material used at high temperature such as a combustion catalyst, a combustion waste gas or the like, a paste layer formed by dispersing a mixed powdery material mainly composed of silica and titanium oxide in a suitable solvent and adding thereto a suitable organic binder is formed said paste layer being dried and sintered to form a carrier layer at a predetermined position of a combustion pipe 1 having no carrier layer or a preheater 3. The combustion pipe or preheater 3 which constitutes the carrier layer is dipped in a solution in which a catalytic material exists as ions (an ethanolic solution of chloroplatinic acid, for example), and when ultraviolet rays are radiated onto the carrier layer, the catalyst is selectively precipitated on the surface of titanium oxide. In this case, the precipitation of the catalyst is not almost observed on silica. This catalytic material displays a heat resisting duration characteristic of an exceedingly high level as compared with that of a conventional catalytic material.
