PURPOSE:To improve the picture quality of an output drawing by making the recording speed of an electrostatic plotter constant, by a method wherein the conversion time of the raster data to be written in a buffer memory is detected and the output speed of the raster data is no controlled that the said conversion time becomes equal to the output time of the raster data. CONSTITUTION:The element data transferred from a host computer is selected on a band basis and written into an element-buffer memory 11. It is converted to a raster data on a band basis with an element-raster converter 12. A memory control part 17 switches switch circuits 13, 14 to be so controlled that the writing and the reading thereof can be alternately carried out with raster buffer memories 15, 16. A drawing output speed setting part 19 detects the data conversion time of each band from the element-raster converter 12 and sets the output speed of the raster data so that the said data conversion time becomes equal to the output time of each band. A raster output control part 18 sends the raster data to an electrostatic plotter at said speed. Therefore, the recording speed of the electrostatic plotter can be made constant.
