<p>Position encoders include a rotary disc or sliding member (20) for moving by an amount proportional to movement of a body to be controlled and having a recording material layer on a surface thereof, and a write/read head (10) or sensor (106) arranged at a position opposing the layer for writing position information (X,Y,Z) into the data-carrier layer that is coupled to the body to be controlled and for reading written information therefrom. The body is positioned at a control position, control position information (D) for controlling the body is written by a writing portion of the magnetic head write-in transducer at a corresponding position on the rotary disc or slide, and the written control position information is subsequently detected by a reading portion (11) of the magnetic head or sensor, thereby detecting arrival of the body to be controlled at a desired control position.</p> |
