PURPOSE:To enable the formation of the picture having a high gradation property with a low cost apparatus, by a method wherein the flying quantity of ink is changed by changing the distance between a counter electrode and a recording electrode. CONSTITUTION:If a voltage is impressed to between a recording electrode 11 and a counter electrode 5, the ink 10 which reaches the tip 12 of the recording electrode 11 after impregnating it therewith receives an electrostatic force and flies toward a counter electrode 11. Then, a dot is formed on recording paper 6 and the printing is carried out. Besides, if the distance between the recording electrode 11 and the counter electrode 5 is made variable by sliding a printing head 4 with a variable means 21 during printing, because the voltage to be impressed is always kept constant by power sources 14, 15, the magnitude of a electrostatic force acting on the ink 10 of the electrode tip 12 changes, the flying amount of the ink 10 changes also, and the diameter of a dot changes, too. Thus, the degree of the gradation can be enhanced without lowering the picture quality and further, high price parts are not required for a variable means. |
