In a telephone set (1) with a hands-free device and with a handset (2) with an earpiece and microphone capsule (6 and 5 respectively), with a support (3) for the handset (2) and with a dialling mechanism (4) and a changeover contact, a circuit arrangement (51) with a switching contact (14) to change over the microphone capsule (5) to free-field microphone mode and the earpiece (6) to loudspeaker mode, and a tripping device (11) for the switching contact (14) are provided so that changeover from handset mode to hands-free mode and vice versa are possible when the switching contact (14) is actuated by the tripping device (11). <IMAGE>
