Apparatus for levelling and compacting bulk materials, having two travelling rollers (13, 14) and a working roller (18) which is arranged in front of the front travelling roller, is lockable in its rotational movement and both ends of which can be pressed down, independently of one another, against the bulk material (34) to be compacted, so as to produce a steering effect owing to one-sided braking of the apparatus and bring the latter back into the direction of travel when it has deviated from it. <IMAGE>
