A device for uniform metallisation of films serves for the application of a metal layer to a film web. With its side to be metallised, the film web faces a highly heated vaporiser which is surrounded by a vacuum and from which metal vapour rises which precipitates on the film web. For uniform metallisation of the film, the vaporiser consists of at least two sources which are each formed in little boats extending transversely to the direction of transport of the web. The metal vapour is guided in the direction of the web by baffles extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the web which is to be coated. In this way, the film web is provided with a uniformly thick coating over its entire length.
