Flexible shaft coupling

The invention relates to a flexible shaft coupling with two halves which are provided with alternate projections between which flexible compressive elements with spacers projecting axially on both sides are arranged. When the coupling is not transmitting any torque and the compressive elements are able to move freely in the coupling pockets, the spacers have the task of keeping the compressive elements axially at a certain distance from the coupling halves. This distance should be such that the elongation of the compressive elements in the axial direction under maximum torque is equal to or less than the distance maintained. Thus no axial forces arise between the two coupling halves. The spacers should furthermore be connected in articulated fashion to the compressive element, such that they are bent away in the circumferential direction without damage when the compressive element is compressed.
