METHOD FOR MAKING LIGHTWEIGHT PRODUCTS

The lightweight products made are particularly for use as an adapting layer material in ultrasonic transducers. The lightweight material consists of a light filling material, preferably microglass hollow beads, which is bonded by means of resins, preferably epoxy or polyester resins. For this purpose, the filling material is introduced into a centrifuge and coated by the low-viscosity resin. It is particularly advantageous to apply to the glass beads a filter material, which is pressed onto the glass beads by a weight and through which the low-viscosity resin can be filtered so that no impurities in the resin can get between the glass beads.
