NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (X, Y, X' and Y' represent H, 1-20C hydrocarbon group or one or two or more groups or atoms selected from carbonyl, sulfonyl and halogen linked to the above-mentioned hydrocarbon group; R and R' are 1-10C aliphatic hydrocarbon group or alicyclic hydrocarbon group). EXAMPLE:1,6-Diamino-2,4-hexadiyne. USE:A synthetic intermediate for novel diacetylene compounds or raw material for high-class crosslinking materials capable of readily reacting with heat, light, pressure, etc., and giving high polymers. PREPARATION:For example, compound expressed by formula II is reacted in a solvent, e.g. acetic acid, etc., at 20-150 deg.C for 30min-10hr to give an N- acetyl derivative expressed by formula III, which is then subjected to oxidative coupling with O2 in the presence of a metal catalyst, e.g. copper (II) oxide, etc., to form a compound expressed by formula IV. The resultant compound expressed by formula IV is then hydrolyzed in an acidic aqueous solution, e.g. hydrochloric acid, etc., or aqueous solution of an alkali, e.g. aqueous solution of NaOH, etc., to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I (Y and Y' and H).
