PURPOSE:To obtain a portable electronic camera of compact size, light weight and capable of easily loading and unloading by incorporating a recording means for recording a photographing video in an optical disk and a storing part for removably storing the optical disk in a box member. CONSTITUTION:In a cabinet 10 to which a camera part 20 consisting of a lens part 21, an image pickup part 22 and a finder part 23, the disk storing part 16 for removably storing the optical disk D and in the storing part 16, a recording part 30 consisting of a driving motor 31, a turn table 32, a disk pressing member 33, a guide shaft 34, an optical head 35 and a linear feed mechanism 36 is incorporated. A photographer holds a handle grip 11 and a photographing posture, operates an operating button 12 and records the picture information of a moving picture to the disk D. The disk D is mounted and removed by opening a door 15. According to this constitution, a complicate link mechanism is not required, so that the load of the motor is reduced, a battery power source is made light, since the optical disk is used, the resistance to flaws or dust is strong and the portability is improved.
