The invention relates to a unit (1) for cleaning and sharpening rubbery-elastic wiper lips (27), in particular those on window-wiper blades (26) for motor vehicles. The object of the invention is to provide a unit of the generic type mentioned in the introduction, by means of which the particles, which cause smearing, or other encrustations or inclusions are detached and the wiper lip can be periodically sharpened such that its service life is lengthened considerably. This object is essentially achieved, according to the invention, in that the unit exhibits at least one frictional surface (5, 6, 18, 19) in a continuous groove (4) which has a wedge-shaped cross-section and corresponds essentially to the cross-sectional form of the wiper lip (27). <IMAGE>
