PURPOSE:To obtain a slider which has good slidability with a magnetic head and is suitable for formation of a thin film element by forming the slider of a sintered body essentially consisting of metallic silcide. CONSTITUTION:Respective powders of MoSi2 and WSi2 are ground with a ball mill for 50hr to <=1mum powder grain size. After the powder formed in such a manner is molded by a metallic mold under 1,000kg/cm<2> pressure, the molding is hot-pressed and calcined for one hour in a vacuum atmosphere under 500kg/cm<2> press pressure. The calcination temp. is set at 1,800 deg.C. The sintered body having >=6X10<-8> deg.C<-1> and <=10X10<-6> deg.C<-1> coefft. of thermal expansion is then obtd. The slider having the slidability with the magnetic head higher at least by >=4 times than the slidability of the conventional slider made of the composite Al2O3/TiC sintered body if the slider 1 is formed by working such sintered body. |
