PURPOSE:To enable a float vertically moving in a tapered pipe to be prevented from vertically oscillating in measuring a flow rate by screw-engaging the float and a fixed guide with each other through spiral irregularities. CONSTITUTION:When a fluid flows in a direction shown by an arrow and a differential pressure generated between above and under a float 3 and its weight in the fluid are in equilibrium, the float 3 holds a constant position and indicates a flow rate. In contrast with this, when the equilibrium is destroyed, the float vertically oscillates. In this case, when the float 3 vertically moves in an unbalanced condition, the rotating motion of the float 3 is generated by a screw engagement between the float 3 and a fixed guide and the vertical motion of the float 3 is suppressed by a frictional force produced between screw- engaged portions. Thus, the float 3 is prevented from vertically oscillating. Accordingly, the vertical oscillation of the float 3 is effectively suppressed, none of a hysteresis phenomenon is generated and the float 3 can be prevented from performing a bounding motion.
