PURPOSE:To detect the mode and power of a laser beam simultaneously, by a method wherein a measuring transverse section of the laser light is divided into parts by circular arcs and a plurality of light receiving elements are arranged to receive the laser beams on the circular arcs being reflected with the rotation of a wire. CONSTITUTION:A wire 2 with a circular transverse section driven to rotate is provided for a laser beam 1 at a position of crossing it 1 at the right angle and a number of light receiving elements 15 (15a-15e) are provided to receive reflected lights from the wire 2 as the wire 2 crosses the laser beam 1. Then, signals of the element 15 are inputted into a detector 16, which converts into laser powers the signals of reflected lights received with the elements 15 from the wire 2 on the respective circular arcs 18a-18e as formed by circles 17a-17e crossing the transverse section of the laser beam 1. The display of the converted values provides a distribution of laser powers on each circular arc. The powers on the circular arcs are integrated per circular arc and the results are totalized. This enables the determination of a total power of laser beam in an approximate manner. |
