The invention concerns a device for successive setting of one or more selectable device functions, in the context of a decision tree of several levels, particularly in microcomputer-controlled devices, using rotary switches with stops, and carried on shafts so that they can rotate, sliding switches, or mutually releasing press keys in a key block. The features of the invention are that: the number of rotary switches or press keys is equal to or less than the number of levels of the decision tree. the functions are set successively, progressing from level to level. the functions which are assigned to the rotary switch, sliding switch or press keys are displayed visibly in clear text in displays. the selected function can be recognised on the rotary switch, sliding switch or key block, and on the display, by a marking. <IMAGE>
