A description is given of a seat bench for vehicles, in particular passenger vehicles, with a seat cushion (2) and a backrest (3), a front seat-cushion part (5), which can be detached from the seat cushion (2), being capable of being used in order to form a restraining device which is held in front of the backrest (3) and is intended for children. In order to provide a restraining device which is as simple as possible, can be made at low cost and can be adjusted both vertically and in the longitudinal direction of the seat, and which is capable of reliably absorbing the stresses which occur in a case where restraint is needed, the intention is for the front seat-cushion part (5) to have an anchoring device (6, 7) which in the starting position engages in a first holding part (9), attached to the remaining part (4) of the seat cushion (2), and in the child restraining position engages in a second holding part (13), attached to the backrest (3). At the same time, the intention is for the anchoring device (6, 7) to be latchable at various vertical positions on the second holding part (13), which is attached to the backrest (3). <IMAGE>
