The present invention describes a process for spray-coating large double T girders, in which a spray device is arranged so as to be movable back and forth transversely to the passage direction of a girder and has one spray gun pair above and below the passage plane of the girder in each case. The spray guns of each pair are set obliquely to one another and connected such that, during the advance of the spray device, only one upper gun and one lower gun are effective, which partly coat the girder and such that, during the return stroke, the upper and lower spray guns which have not been actuated until that time become effective and spray the girder with paint only in the region which has not been coated during the advance stroke. In this manner, a uniform coating with a minimum consumption of paint is achieved.
