<p>Vapour-phase corrosion inhibitors (VPI) are inserted into reinforced concrete structures either during their formation, in which case the self-supporting VPI insert, which is independent of the metal reinforcement, may be in the form of a spacer for spacing the reinforcing rods; or after their formation by insertion of the fluid or solid VPI in holes bored in the pre-existing structure. Preferred VPI materials are cyclohexylamine nitrites, benzoates and carbamates.</p> |
