The reciprocal saw (6) comprises a frame (9) with pivots for two swivel arms (4,5), with their rear ends (12,13) adjustably connected via a pivoted threaded spindle (14). Their forward ends carry members (2,3) to clamp the ends (24,25) of a saw blade (1) between them. One arm (5) is motor-driven via an eccentric (7) to reciprocate the blade vertically. Each member comprises a bush (29) with two outward projections (31,32) for swivellable engagement in open grooves (33) in the forked forward arm end. The e.g. square bore of the bush contains a slidable holder, whose threaded outer end (20) is located on the outer bush face, whilst the inner end carries a chuck (26) to clamp the respective blade end inward of the swivel support of the bush.
