Lining of a kiln for glaze baking

On the lining of a kiln for glaze baking stoneware or earthenware, accumulations of aggressive vapour precipitates should be avoided if at all possible. For this purpose, the lining (4) is covered with plates (9, 10) on the inside of the kiln. These plates (9, 10) are made of an aluminium oxide-based sintered ceramic. They have a low open porosity combined with a high density and a low iron content. <IMAGE>
