An adsorption layer is provided for retaining predominantly organic hydrocarbon compounds in the liquid or gaseous phase upstream and downstream of sealing layers of plastics. An adsorber layer is installed upstream of the sealing layer in the direction of flow. It is arranged for regeneration between at least two support walls, the support walls bounding a cavity. One support wall forms a sealing layer. The adsorber layer is arranged as a separate interlayer and can therefore be readily exchanged or treated for regeneration on the spot or externally. The adsorber layer therefore has a long service life.
