PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a defective image due to the lack of light quantity by counting the time required for the arrival of a fluorescent lamp up to a prescribed temperature and controlling the time up to the start of image formation in accordance with the counted result. CONSTITUTION:A thin plate-like heater 2 is stuck to the fluorescent lamp 1, the temperature is detected by a thermistor 3 and current supply to the heater 2 is controlled by a temperature control part 4. When the temperature of the lamp 1 reaches the prescribed temperature, a correction control part 5 receives its ready signal, and after the passage of a prescribed time, sends a printing enable signal to a whole control part 6. Since printing is started after stabilizing the light quantity of the fluorescent lamp, the generation of a defective image can be suppressed.
