PURPOSE:To prevent the excessive control of slippage under a high speed traveling condition by calculating the quantity of change in the slip ratio of driving wheels based on the deviation in speed between said driving wheels and driven wheels and controlling the slippage of said driving wheels based on said quantity of change and its reference value. CONSTITUTION:The output signals of speed sensors 21-24 for detecting the speeds of right and left driving wheels 11, 12 and right and left driven wheels 13, 14 at the time of operating a vehicle are taken in an ECU35. In this ECU35, the excessive slip of the driving wheels 11, 12 is detected based on the deviation between the right and left driving wheel speed and the driven wheel speed and, when excessive slip is detected, a fuel injection valve 36 is controlled to restrict the slippage of the driving wheels 11, 12. In this case, the quantity of change in the slip ratio of the driving wheels 11, 12 based on said deviation is calculated, while setting the reference value of the quantity of change in slip ratio which is a function of vehicle speed. And, the slippage of the driving wheels is controlled based on this reference value and the calculated quantity of change in slip ratio.
