NEW MATERIAL:A terpene type propargyl ether shown by formula I (R is terpene; X is H or I with the proviso that a case where X is H and R is 3,7- dimethylocta-2-trans-6-dienyl is omitted). EXAMPLE:(p-Mentha-1,8-dien-7-yl)2-propynyl ether. USE:An eliminator against agricultural and horticultural insect pests and household insect pests. A compound wherein X is iodine is an antifungal agent for medical treatment, animal, agriculture and horticulture, industry and household. The eliminator has high utility value, safety and economic efficiency. PREPARATION:For example, a terpene type propargyl ether compound shown by formula II is reacted with iodine in a solution of caustic soda in methanol to give a compound wherein X is I in the formula I. The compound shown by the formula II is obtained by reacting a corresponding terpene alcohol with a propargyl halide in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst.
