PURPOSE:A drug, containing sialosylcholesterol as an active ingredient and useful for treating various diseases caused by disorder in peripheral nervous or central nervous systems. CONSTITUTION:A remedy containing sialosylcholesterol expressed by formulas I and II as an active ingredient. Most of the diseases caused by disorder in nervous systems are intractable and there are few kinds of treating drugs therefor. Although cobalamin (common name) is typical at present, the effect thereof is insufficient yet. As a result of a test on activity thereof in cultivation of neuroblastomatous cells (Neuro 2a) derived from mice using the sialosylcholesterol, action of promoting growth of neurites is recognized. Thereby the sialosylcholesterol is useful as a remedy for neuropathy and is capable of increasing water solubility by converting into Na silate and used in the form of eye drip, inhalant, intravenous injection, intramuscular injection or subcutaneous injection.
