PURPOSE:To keep the excellent resistance to erosion and corrosion for potassium titanate melt by forming the face brought into contact with melt incorporated in a vessel made of high-purity Ni wherein the content of impurities is controlled. CONSTITUTION:The face brought into contact with potassium titanate melt incorporated in a vessel as the melt is formed by metallic Ni which has >=95% purity and contains <=1.0% C, <=2.0% Mn, <=1.0% Fe, <=2.0% Si and <=5.0% Cu as the impurities. Thereby good resistance to erosion and corrosion against potassium titanate melt is secured. Further when coating the Ni surface of this vessel by a black coated film of nickel oxide, the resistance to erosion and corrosion is further enhanced.
