PURPOSE:To make it possible to precisely control the ignition timing, by detecting the amount of intake air per intake stroke of an engine, by smoothing thus detected intake air amounts to obtain a precise intake air amount, and by controlling the ignition timing in accordance with the precise intake air amount and the engine rotational speed. CONSTITUTION:An AN detecting means 20 receives an output signal from an AFS (Karman's vortex flow meter) 13 disposed in the intake air passage downstream of an air cleaner 10, together with an output signal from a crank angle sensor 17, and calculates the number A/N of output pulse from the AFS 13, which are delivered over a predetermined crank angle of an engine 1. An AN computing means 21 calculates the number of output pulses corresponding to the output of the AFS 13 which corresponds to the amount of intake air that is considered to be sucked up by the engine, in accordance with the output of the AN detecting means 20. That is, the A/N is smoothed. Further, a control means 22 controls the driving time of an injector 14 and the energization of an ignition coil 19 in accordance with the output of AN computing means 21.
