PURPOSE:To shorten control time by providing a dial number storage means and a call station number identification means and conducting training after a transmission speed is previously switched to a one corresponding to the quality of a circuit at the time of originating a dial in a specific area. CONSTITUTION:At the time of calling, a dial number is read out of a dial number memory 3, transmitted to a communication line from a signal transmitter 2 by a communication control means 1, and further transmitted as a callee facsimile receiver call signal through a switching board. At that time a station number identifier 4 built-in a facsimile equipment decides whether said signal denates long distance communications or not. Based on the result the communication control means 1 selects a transmission speed among 4800 BPS, 7200 BPS and 9600 BPS, previously estimates the quality of the circuit, switches a transmission control system to the transmission speed corresponding to the circuit, transmits a training check signal and drops a training failure ratio in the 1st training result. Thus the time required for using the circuit can be saved.
