PURPOSE:To obtain a dry flower having sustained color, shape and fragrance close to those of original natural flowers, by taking up or injecting water into natural flowers blooming about 70-80%, simultaneously spraying the flowers with the solution and carrying out a low-humidity drying method at ordinary temperature. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of a viscous agent, e.g. sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, sodium alginate, polyvinyl alcohol or glycerol, is taken up and absorbed in natural flowers blooming 70-80% for 1-3 days. On the other hand, the above-mentioned aqueous solution is sprayed thereon to give dry flowers. In order to shorten the period of production, a method for charging the natural flowers into an encapsulated aqueous solution of the viscous agent and directly drying, spraying and further drying the natural flowers simultaneously with the water uptake or drying the flowers while dripping and injecting the aqueous solution in place of water uptake, etc. The dry flowers obtained by the above-mentioned method are not fragile and can be readily handled, decorated, etc.
