PURPOSE:To obtain the title general-purpose polymer having two kinds of reactive groups, by (co)polymerizing a specified hydroxyl group-containing (meth) acrylate with, optionally, a radical-polymerizable double bond-containing monomer. CONSTITUTION:A hydroxy group-containing (meth)acrylate (i) of formula I (wherein R is H or methyl and Z is a 2-8C bivalent organic group) is reacted with an alkenyl glycidyl ether (ii) of formula II [wherein R<1> is H or a 20C or lower (halo-substituted) hydrocarbon group and R<2> is a 20C or lower alkenyl] and, optionally, a cyclic compound other than component (ii) to obtain a hydroxy group-containing (meth)acrylate (a) of formula III [wherein (A) is a group derived by ring-opening of component (ii), (B) is a group derived by ring-opening of component (iii), the sequence of (A) and (B) is random, k is 1-20 and lis 0-20]. Component (a) is (co)polymerized with, optionally, a radical- polymerizable double bond-containing monomer (b) at room temperature to 200 deg.C to obtain the title polymer represented by formula IV [wherein X is a residue of component (b), m is a positive integer and n is 0 or m] and having a number-average MW of 10<3>-10<6>.
